Sounds of the City

Every day we hear sounds designed to give us information. From helping us get up in the morning to crossing the road or paying for some shopping, all these experiences are enhanced by designed sounds.

We have gathered designed sounds from across six UNESCO Cities of Design; pedestrian crossings to emergency vehicles; public transport to shops. Although they may be giving the same information the sounds can be very different. Have a listen and see if you can spot the differences from around the world.
